Now accepting birth center clients.

Birth center birth is a unique community-centered option for childbirth. The birth center becomes your extended space where you learn and grow in your pregnancy, and where your baby is born. When you are in labor, you will contact your midwife. Together you will decide when to come to the birth center. Please know that while you can reach your midwife 24/7, the birth center is not staffed at all hours.

When you arrive, you and the midwife will discuss your labor progress and she will assess your vital signs. You and your team will settle in to the birth room of your choosing – making the room and the birth center your home for the duration of your labor. You are encouraged to eat and drink in labor and to move around freely.

Throughout labor, your midwife will monitor you and your baby’s health and well-being by evaluating your blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and fetal heart tones. As labor progresses you may choose to enter the birthing tub for comfort. You may choose to listen to music, guided meditation, enjoy aroma therapy and the support and energy of the your birth team.

After the birth of your baby, you will remain at the birth center for a minimum of 2 hours. In this time you and your baby will be assessed for health. Just as in a home birth, we encourage early breastfeeding and bonding between family members. We help you up to the bathroom and ensure you eat a good meal. Before you leave, we review postpartum information and ensure your needs are met. We will visit your home within 48 hours to check on you and your baby. The two and six week appointments occur at the birth center, with encouraged contact between clients and the midwife in between appointments.

We have completed our birth center licensing through Florida’s Agency for Healthcare Administration. Our license number is 357. For up-to-date information on birth center licenses and inspections check out AHCA’s website here.
